Default fy 09... who is staying, who is going?

I am 99% sure that I am getting out. I have several good opportunities waiting for me on the outside, even though they are making it very hard for me to get out with a 61k bonus and choice of duty station. I guess that I will need to do some serious soul searching, and figure this one out. Stay in and get 61k plus choice of duty station, or get out and be making 100k within 3 years.

Unless you're located tax-free, don't forget to consider the tax hit you'll take on the bonus.

I'll be out FY10 and there will be no deliberation about it.

UPT? Well I imagine that if you just got commissioned, you may be hanging around for a few years. Congrats.

61K bonus I would stay for a while, thats a hell of a bonus. Active duty does suck though.

Re-up again and take that $61K tax free bonus like you stole it. Invest that money and see it grow.

I'm a pulling chocks in May. No re-enlistment bonus, 3 degree's and $30k in electronics training made the decision very easy. AF has been very good to me but its time to move on. My leadership is trying to get me to stay, when they ask why im getting out, i tell them "You trained me too well"

Yep, there's a reason that the AF has a community college. We get some GREAT training.

Well man, I'm an Army reservist, and I tell you what, if I were active duty, I wouldnt get out. All that BS about employers having preference for veterans is BULL SH*T. They don't care. Around here, jobs are pretty hard to come by, and even if you have one,I have yet to find anything that would match military benefits/health care.

You can do it. If you get out you can always come back in. I got out in 05 then got recalled in 07 and get out again in a few weeks, then back to NADEP to return to L3. I love my job but hate the Corps. To much BS to deal with.

I cant stand being active duty. Im getting out in 09 after being stop lossed for a few months. My MOS is one of the most understrength in the whole army yet our re-up bonus is just stupid. 10k for 6 years as an E4 and it goes down if I get my E5.

Getting out and using the new GI Bill to the full extent.

Probably want to read the new GI Bill. They pay your tuition directly and you get BAH.

Wow.... that sucks, pay is good when you get called back though isn't it? Well I guess that I will be seeing you when you return to L3... as they come to my squadron all of the time to take more pics and get more info for the courses that they are building for us.

I was looking into federal jobs, as that is one direction that I wouldn't mind going. The money isn't too bad, and I have about 4 total jobs that I am also looking into.

I think that I am going to just say screw it and get out, I am sick of the crap that we have to deal with, but mostly the people. I have done my time and done my time in, and my time deployed.
