Default Fuel pump/regulator?

After 158K miles, i decided to change the fuel pump for assurance while changing the rearend, i installed a Walbro 255, everything seems good (starts better too), but i've noticed that it has a slight lazy spot now that wasn't there before, it does feel like its stronger WOT in the upper RPMs, this lazy spot is not bad, but its there, Is it AT ALL possible that the new pump is jacking with this old regulator & makeing the pressure act funny, i know i need to go buy a Tester, but is it possible? Should i change the regulator too?

Thanks
