Obviously ebay is out there, but I feel like it should be possible to do better. Anyone have any suggestions on how to source one (obviously local is better-- PA).
Going to be putting the engine into an 95 M3 that I'm going to use as a track car. Pics:

I'm also a sponsor on m3forum.com, so I'm all about supporting sponsors. Will call you when I get some time, and we'll talk about options

try craigslist.com or just searching for engine with Yahoo or Google. Try "LS1 engine sale"
You can also search the many Forum (LS1Tech and the Performance Trucks link, LS1.com, Norcal-LSX.com, Fastlsx.com and on and on.. ) Try some of the GTO and Corvette forums.
Phil at BRPHotRods.com is also selling take outs.. check with him.

supplier
I bought a complete car thru an online dealer auction thru a buddy thats a car dealer.had it shipped everything was about 2300$ car was a rolled 00 t/a and i parted it out. that way you pull all the parts you need and save having to buy and misc stuff that was needed too. only bad thing is yard didnt wrap up or cover car and the black seats had been rained in - not good for leather or electric - got to be careful with that. but with selling parts i dodnt need ended up with a ls1 6 speed for about 1k
