Default Best Cat-back (performance and sound)

Currently have the Flowmaster Cat-back system. Been on the car since 2002. First mod I did. Anyways, after modding and researching this site, I've noticed many people bashing the Flowmaster CB system for our cars.

So, I'm thinking of upgrading my Cat-back. Wondering opinions on the best Cat-Back system out there, for both performance and sound. All my mods are listed in sig.

Also thinking about the electric cut-out. Not sure which direction I will go, but I think it's time for the Flowmaster to go...

I look forward to your opinions and experiences. BTW, I have done a search...

Depends on how much you wanna spend!

You'll hear plenty of opinions. With an ORY, I figured it came down to Corsa vs Magnaflow. I couldn't justify the extra $$$ for what you get, so I went with the Magnaflow.

$$$ is always a variable, but with all the $$$ spent lately, a few more bucks for the better system isn't out of the question.

Zzzzz: How do you like the magnaflow? Also, are you on headers/y-pipe in front of the cat-back? And any cats on your ride?

Thanks

Corsa and GMMG seem to be praised quite a bit. True-duals are probably best for flow, but there's ground clearence issues. Personally, I will be going with Corsa. It sounds great on F-body's, and no drone.

My old car had a Borla, the new one a Magnaflow quad tip. Both are great, but for the money I would go with the Magnaflow.

I wanted Corsa, but wasn't too keen on spending that kind of coin. I will say it sounds absolutely awesome though.

Got the magnaflow for the price and the praise it gets on here. Went from TSP TDs.

How about compared to the Flowmaster Cat-back? Is the Magnaflow much better, or just liked more for some reason or another over the Flowmaster?

Corsa isn't a few more bucks, it's literally over twice the cost of a Magnaflow.

I'll have to get the camera out and make a few vids to show what it sounds like. I know I spent hours looking for some while I was making this decision.

I'm running QTP LT's > QTP ORY > Magnaflow cat-back.

go check out ls1sounds.com and make your own opinion. As far as performance goes, i'm willing to bet they are all at most 10 horse difference - so base it off what sounds the best to you

I always loved the sound of the Flowmaster on my LT1. I'd say if you like the sound keep it and get an electric cutout for performance.

If you don't like the sound anymore and want something different than I would suggest looking into the Gmmg catback. It has a very unique sound to it.

Just my opinion, but the Magnaflow sounds way too raspy. I was more impressed by the sound of a GMMG or a TSP Rumbler on a stock ls1. Those kinds of cbs sound deeper and more muscular than the Magnaflow.

Yeah, I don't want that raspy sound. Need something that will work well with the Longtubes and OR Y-pipe... Maybe something that will amplify the sound of the cam as well... so many choices, not enough time...

Like 99 SS LS1 said, LS1sounds.com should give you an idea as to what you want. I added a cut off to my Flowmaster CB before I changed it to the Magnaflow. Honestly the cut off solved my issue. I felt no difference between the two mufflers with the cut off open. Wish I'd spent that money on something else. Again the cut off bypasses the muffler. I only run it open except for when I get it inspected.

^^Just get the LS7 clutch kit. Feels like the stock LS1 clutch, but grabs much harder and can handle the horsepower your pushing. Aftermarket clutches all have their own advantages and disadvantages. If this is not strictly a drag car, I would stick with LS7...

Thanks guys. Regarding the cut-out. If I do the cut-out, I will keep the flowmaster cb, not worth the swap with a cut-out right now.
