Default Got pulled over

So I try sleeping since it's 1 am and I couldn't fall asleep. I get up, hop on the computer and check the forums and the weather for tomorrow. Since it's supposed to be rain I decided hey, why not take the car out for a spin. So I hop in the vette and roll down rt. 38 on my way to a wawa for coffee to keep me occupied for the ride home. I just pass over 295 and the first light I come to turns yellow. Now I'm traveling at 53 mph and was borderline on either slamming on the brakes, or planting the gas to make the light. I opted to plant it, car comes alive and I go blazing through the intersection at 75+ making it before the red. There's a gas station on the left tucked away at the light(comes into play later). Immediately after the intersection I slow back down and set the cruise at 53. I look in the rear view a half mile later and I see headlights in the distance coming up FAST. As he gets closer I make out those headlights you do not want to see behind you.....it's a cop. He's about 10 feet off my bumper for a whole 3 seconds and bam...the lights got on. I put the turn signal on and pull over to the shoulder. I turn the car off, roll the window down, and put both hands on the steering wheel. The cop walks up (I can hear on his radio, I'll be there in a minute) and it goes a little like this.....

Cop-Hi, I'm officer*****, license, reg, insur please.
Me-here ya go
Cop-Do you have a NJ driver's license?
Me-No
Cop-Why not?
Me-because I'm stationed here for the military
Cop-Oh ok. What branch?
Me-the air force
Cop-Where you coming from?
Me-My house in browns mills.
Cop-Have you been drinking?
Me-I definitely haven't been drinking?
Cop-Where you headed?
Me-No where, just out for a drive.
Cop-(looks at me funny, like WTF are you going for a drive for at 1 am)
Me-I do that sometimes
Cop-Ok, do you have a current ins. card?
Me-wait, that's not the right one?
Cop-No, it expired 4 days ago
Me-(F*** on the inside while looking for it)I don't have the current one.
Cop-Ok, I'll be right back.

(at this point I think I'm screwed and getting tickets for 75+ in a 50, and failure to provide documents)
Another cop car shows up. Cop walks back up a few minutes later.

Cop-Here you go. I'm going to go ahead and give you a verbal warning because I respect the military.
Me-Thank you, I HIGHLY appreciate it.
Cop-You didn't see 3 cop cars sitting back there at the gas station?
Me-I definitely didn't see you all sitting back there.
Cop-Alright, have a good night.
Me-Thank you, sorry about that.

Luckily I was driving the vette. I'm sure I would have been arrested if I was in the T/A.

THANK YOU GOD

As soon as I saw the thread title I was thinking "oh **** Rob probably got in some trouble with the T/A". I don't even take my T/A out late anymore because I'm scared of running into the wrong cop.

Thats awesome you ran into a pretty cool cop. You do know its illegal to speed up to make a light right? He could have given you at least 3 tickets.

Yeah I know. For some reason I felt like I was being watched when I did it after I slowed down. There were ALOT of cops out last night too. I must have seen atleast 6 people pulled over.

Yep, It was sitting in my truck. I took them both out to put them in the cars when I got them and got side tracked cleaning the truck.

dude if so you got really lucky I HATE mt. laurel. i have a ticket i have to pay for that was a result of me making a defensive manover to get out of the way of a jackass that hoped over infront of me and slammed on there brakes to make a turn as soon as they got in front of me. cop gave me a unsafe lane change ticket for it. and this all happened right infront of the cop so he saw everything. especially the jackass move the guy did

Thumbs up

I agree on the 'Corvette being less prone to traffic tickets than the F-body' thing LOL but I believe that it was more Rob's military ID than did the trick in this particular instance, and justifiably so.
