larger air filter 4 stock d1sc
ive searched and read but no definetive answer or pics. what filter have you been able to run with the stock 4.5 twin ics? pics would be helpful too. im about 3 weeks from reassembly and im trying to get all the little stuff.
i would normally just figure it out myself but with no motor or headunit in the car its a little difficult right now and im trying to minimize my assembly time by having parts in hand.
thanks

Its not the size of the air filter thats a problem on the stock ATI systems, its the inlet hat.... You can do many things to fix that... like call Bob at EPP.... or fab up a tight radius bend to fit on the front of the blower.

well, not looking to cut my core support yet, also talked to bob. he seems to think a larger filter on its own will definetly be an improvement. he just hasnt fitted the large filter he sells with the twin 4.5 ic's. im looking for some tryed and true filters.

I have the same question, with the 4.5" intercooler piping right in the way there doesn't seem to be much option for change, at least that I can see.
It looks like the FMIC have more options.

I have the 3.5" intercoolers and I am using the stock inlet hat and hose but I am using a huge K & N filter.
The part# is E-1796 and it is 9.5" high, 6" wide, with a 3.75" inside diameter which in reality, measures 6" inside diameter. I have at least 1.5" to spare all around my 3.5" intercooler outlet tubing so with the 4.5" intercoolers and you should not have a problem. I'll see if I can get pics, but it is a tight spot.

Here is a similiar thread, but it talks more of the inlet hat but some about a larger filter.
