Tail light idea
Ok I had no clue which form to put this in, but this seemed the closest to appropriate. My car has 5% tint and at night its really hard to back. I have no vis what so ever in my rear view mirror, and I'm tired of sticking my head out the window. So has any one done any mods to get brighter reverse lights? Or have any ideas? I’ve got a few spinning around in my head, but nothing has hit me yet.

The halogen replacements don't have their own number - they're just listed as a 50 watt halogen replacement for whatever original bulb number (in this case - 3156). You can usually find them at your local auto parts store.
Actually, the OEM bulb is a 3155 which produces 21 candlepower. The 3156 is identical except that it produces 32cp so you could get a 50% increase in light by just substituting 3156 bulbs for the original ones. The halogen bulbs are much brighter than that but they also produce a lot more heat so you'll have to be careful about not leaving the car in reverse too long for fear of melting the lenses.

I have halogen reverse lights. I bought them from PepBoys about 2 years ago. They are 50watt halogen bulbs re-based to fit (and advertised as such) in place of the stock reverse lights. Its a yellow & black package (backboard with clear plastic "blister" holding the bulb).
There are pics of the package in this post by Mustang5.Ohater:

You could probably go a bit lighter on the tint without compromising the look. I don't know about other people, but if I was getting blinded like crazy by bright reverse lights, I'd have a hard time not wanting to ram their car. Otherwise the backup camera might not be a bad idea. When I still had my Honda with 5% tint, I used to back in when I could so I didn't have to worry about backing out if I was leaving when it was dark outside. If it wasn't for that, I'd probably have 5% instead of 20% in my car now.

Not as bright as the halogen units though.
Thanks.
