96 Corvette Grand Sport (no 56k)
I recently got to work on this beauty of a car. My personal favorite of all the C4's. It was in good shape when I started. It appeared to have been buffed out before and the job was good, the only remaining swirls and scratches were the really deep ones. So this required some careful work to remove. There were a few remaining swirls here and there in some of the rougher parts (rear deck, top of doors, etc), but all in all it came out very nice.
Method:
-dawn wash
-zaino claybar
-rewash
-Rotary with Meg's 8" wool pad with Megs #85 (10 out of 10 cut)
-Rotary with Meg's 6.5" yellow polishing pad with Meg's #83 (6 out of 10 cut)
-Porter Cable with Meg's 6.5" yellow polishing pad with Meg's #80 (4 out of 10 cut)
-rewash
-2 coats of Zaino Z5pro with ZFX
-1 coat of Zaino Clear Seal
-Zaino Z6 detail spray
and a few other odds and ends....

that looks awesome! My favorite C4....I know the ZR1 is a wicked machine, but this just looks badass. I've never really noticed the rear fender flares, is this on all of them?

pretty nice. i love that color, but i'm not too fond of the fender stripes, only because there is no area for them to roll underneath the fender. also, are those quarter panel flares stock? they look nice.

That Admiral Blue Metallic GLOWS in the direct sunlight! Those Grand Sports are badass, and everyone of them came with the LT4 (330hp) and the ZF 6 speed transmission. Those flares were used to cover the stock 17 x 11 wheels out back, and was another GS-only item.
The earlier ZR1 had a completely different rear body, with a wider rear fascia, wider quarter panels, etc...the GS flares were a cheaper solution for housing the wider rear wheels. They were also a popular add-on for anyone wanting to use the 11" wheels on their standard C4....
