Default Whats the purpose of ABS

My ABS light is always on, i drive my car in Summer months only. Do i need my ABS for Summer driven car or does ABS help you stop better in Winter/icey roads? I want to get rid of the light but, i don't know if there is a fuse that i can pull and solve my problem.

The ABS system will keep the car from skidding in dry, wet, or icy conditions. You are just more likely to get in to a skid when its icy out. If your ABS light is on, the system needs to be serviced.

If you are using the car for regular driving, having the ABS system working properly could be the one thing in an evasive situation that keeps you from wrecking the car, even during the summer on dry pavement.

In your condition, the light is important in that it is reminding you that the ABS will not work in a skid. (So, you do not want to deactivate it.) If you do get in a skid while it is not working, you will need to manually pump the brake, like an old style car.
