Default optispark question

hello,i have a 1997 formula lt1 with 147000 miles. the car is running good but i want to change the water pump and spark plug wires. should i just change the optispark and timing chain also? i think it has the original optispark.

All of that might be a good idea if you dont want to go in there again for anything. The chain isnt as important but would be good piece of mind since they often develop some slack after 100k.

That would be a good tuneup though, should run alot better after.

also i am going to change plugs, coil,optispark harness. if i change timing chain can i just use the old gears or should i get the complete set. the car is not driven hard at all.

You can reuse the old gears, Its not often that you see those slacken up or bend. But it does happen. Its usually just the chain itself though.
