car just quit, possible fuel pump?
Hello, my car just quit running today while I was going to work, it will not restart. I think it may be the fuel pump. I moved the ignition swith to 'run' and checked for fuel on the schrader valve by depressing it, it squirted a bit then nothing. My question is should have fuel kept comming out of the valve while in run? Do i need to jump a relay, or something? Whats the best way to check for a bad fuel pump? The car tries to start, fires a little bit for half of a second but thats it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The easiest way that I can think of is; get someone to turn the key to run/acc. Go to the back of the car and listen to see if you hear the pump prime.Won't work if its too loud out side to hear this. $.02

I am having the exact same problem in my 94 Formula. It idols for like a second then just quits. The only way to keep it running is if I give it some gas.
I think it could be the fuel pump .

a security fault will keep it from starting as will a blown fuse.
it ran out of something spark fuel and compression is all it needs.
if you do not have much to work with a shot of ether could tell you something.

Close; air, fuel and spark is needed for an internal combustion engine.
Can the I.A.C.'s be cleaned off and ohmed to check them???

my car is having the same problem described here. I can turn it on and itll idle fine for maybe 3 seconds, then spudder, and sit at like 200 rpms and die. i checked the fuel at the rails, and im only getting 10 psi. So i guess the walbro i just put in my car about 5 months ago went bad. If you check the fuel at the rails, as stated above, it will narrow the problem down
