new sails no bass
I replaced my factory blown sails with the bazooka sails. My system lacks bass. If I try to turn the bass up. The speakers sound distorted. Honestly, my sails have been out over a year and I haven't been playing any bass. Now though the system sounds crappy. Far inferior to original. Any suggestions? I've read good things about these speakers.

I just finished installing mine today and it's much better than the factory speakers were. I too have been without bass since my driver side went out completely about a month ago and I was suprised how much better these were. Maybe you were expecting a lot more out of the speakers? If your not happy with the amount of bass add a stealth box and a 10" sub that should fix it

If you have the factory amplified system, bypass it all through an aftermarket head unit and run your own speaker wires. The sound will drastically change.
If you don't have the amplified system, try getting a new stereo. Or you're just expecting too much bass out of a 5.5" speaker. IMO the less bass in a speaker that size, the better. The higher end speakers of that size won't have bass. Cheaper the speaker, more the bass.

Also, it's still the factory monsoon system.
I'm not expecting more than I had stock, but this is horrible. I guess it's time to upgrade. Anyone know which radio allows one to put that firebird center on as the screensaver? I've seen that posted on a few cars.

with the dual voice coils you have 2 options.
series or parallel.
series is 1+ side of 1 voice coil to the - of the other voice coil. and you wire up your + and - to the open terminals.
paralell is when the positives and negatives are wired together.

In this case, series or parallel isn't an issue since the factory Monsoon wiring runs each of the voice coils on separate channels from the amp. Just make sure you haven't mixed the pairs across different voice coils and that you don't have the phase (positive vs. negative) reversed on one coil from the other.
