Which aftermarket A/C for 69 Camaro
I searched. and have read till my head in spinning. I want to use the factory compressor, mainly for cost savings, but some say it will work, vintage says it won't. Who has used the factory LS1 compressor with what kit? I found a good deal on VA, and on HRA, so which one?

Everything I have read seems to indicate that the Gen 4 system from VA has the best cooling capacity. The same unit is used in the Ford GT which is what is was originally designed for.
Give Frank at Prodigy Customs a call to discuss the use of the stock compressor. He's taken a lot of product training and has installed quite a few of these systems from all manufacturers. Not too many sellers can give you the pros and cons of all of them from first hand experience.

I have got a classic auto air and works great. I checked with vintage air when I was shopping for after market a/c and they wanted to sell me there compressor and brackets. Classic auto air was great to work with. I told them what I was doing (ls1 with 4th gen compressor into my 71 camaro) and they sold me a kit minus the compressor and brackets. They also welded correct new barbs onto the aluminum lines for the 4th gen compressor with the hoses crimped on.
