Default Which amp for 11Ov.2 sub?

Hi,
I want to add a sub and amp to my stock Monsoon system (already done infinity in the door speakers), and am thinking of using a 10" 11Ov.2 subwoofer from Elemental Designs.
Which amp should I team up with it, to get a decent thump?
Any help or pointers is hugely appreciated, as I've never done ANY audio installs, or have any knowledge about electronics.... YET!

Also, I'm trying to do this on a bit of a budget, so please throw in a few surgestions, and I'll chose on what I can comfortably afford.

Thanks for your time and help dealing with a newbee.

if you wanna stick with ed, you can use the nine.2x, as long as you get the dual 2 ohm version of the sub. Wire it up to 4 ohms, then bridge for 600 watts. $250

ED Nine.1 if you want some extra power for a few extra dollars. You could run the dual 2 ohm sub at 1 ohm and get 1200 watts or get the dual 4 ohm and run the sub at 2 ohms for 900 watts. $295

Kicker 750.1 with dual 4 ohm sub and get 750+ watts at 2 ohms[most 750.1's come out of the box around 900ish watts{birthsheet}]. $499.99

Kicker 500.1 $399.99

JL has their company called TMA, which i have dealt with when dealing with insurance companies and the stuff isnt bad. t500.1 for $299.99

Alpine MRPM-500, 500x1 at 2 ohms. Just ordered this one for 1 alpine type r 10. $230

I would personally either stick with the brand{ED}, or go with the alpine, or kicker if you want to spend a little more. You can get better deals than what i listed, those are just msrp's. Kee may even have some of this, or even another choice for the same price or cheaper.

Okay, I've had a good look through, and I think I'm gonna go with the Alpine sub and amp. I'm surprised at how easy it could be to spend a fortune on this type of stuff !
So, I'm looking at two different type R subs, one seems to be a 2 ohm ("Alpine Type-R SWR-1022D 10") and the other a 4ohm (Alpine Type R SWR-1042D 10") Which one should I get, the 2 ohm or the 4ohm?

Thanks again for the help guys, I'd be lost without ya

Get the dual 4 ohm {4 +4}, You will be able to wire the sub down to 2 ohms and get the 500x1 out of the amp. Same setup im working on in mine, when running from this hurricane crap is over, if the car didnt drown at the shop i left it in,lol. Also, if you ever decide to add a 4 channel, the mrpf300 is the same size as the mrpm500 and the same price, they compliment each other nice. Check out ONLINE

Yes I also have the Alpine Type R and the M500 setup, got it done about 2 weeks ago. You will love it. Yeah, make sure you get the 4 ohm version. Just wire in parallel to get a 2ohm resistance and it will pair up perfectly with the M500. You will be surprised how hard it hits for a single 10". I got my box from Kee Audio and it is badass. Don't cheap out on the box it is probably the most important part. If you have any questions just ask!!

Thank you so much for the help, pretty sure I'll go with this combo.
I think I follow most of what you're saying, could you just clarify a couple of things?

Sorry, I'm not sure what you are refering to.

Sorry guys, I've herd these terms before, but I'm still learning.
Thanks for your patience.

He's trying to direct you to a website of a non-sponsor in a less than subtle way (in violation of forum rules) and if he's not careful his post will get deleted.

The 4 channel is for your door speakers. If you would want to up your mids and highs, you add that amp. No stick with the mrpm500, its the bass amp. If you get a crappy box, the setup, no matter how good, will be crap at best. Pay for a better box and you will not be unhappy.

a sub box is what captures the bass. A cheap sub and amp will hit better with a quality box than an expensive setup with a cheap box

well I'm going to assume you are going to go with a stealth box set up like most people with an fbody. I think most people, myself included would say the kee audio stealth box is the best. I got one and I love it. Kee is on this forum check it out.
