Default My next mod having problems choosing

Well my next mod is going to be a set of headers and an off road y. I was wondering what you guys suggested. I want something that will give me a noticable increase in power and sound good through my flowmaster catback. Any advice will be appreciated and considered.

How much are you willing to spend? It's the budget that determines the answer.

Well I have seen how much the kooks and slp headers are and I would be willing to spend around a grand for headers and y pipe possibly more. I'm not gonna make a big deal about cost I learned a long time ago that you get what you pay for so I'm willing to pay for my performance. I got a friend with some pacesetter headers and an offroad y and a flowmaster catback and I don't want mine to sound like his.

yours will....its an open exhaust with no cats. If you have the same muffler, sound will not vary much between headers.

All the LT headers pretty much make the same power, it really comes down to, aside from cost, how important is good quality stainless steel, fitment, ease of install. I went with ARHs because of all those reasons, but they are the priciest, just under 1500 with catted y-pipe. You could make the same power with less expensive headers, but they might be a pain to install and look crappy after a couple years.

+1 on changing the CB. The flow master is one of the worst flowing CB's for the f body. If you like sound keep the CB and get a cutout.

my 99 had jethots and ORY and a flowmaster, it sounded like ****. Now I have ARH catted y and rumbler, and it sounds like ****. Hooker catback sounds good with LT's no rasp, I'm switching to that soon.

Yeah I hate that raspy sound at high rpms thats what attracted me to the hooker. I like the way they sound.

pacesetter has terribly thin tubing. not worth hardly anything imho. but a nice used set here on the forums for cheap and get the best of both worlds
