Default gas tank shield

How well can the gas tank hold up to the heat from the exhaust pipe heat. I have a Magnaflow exhaust and right before the Y-split it is about a half inch away from the gas tank. The spot I am talking about is in the right rear of the gas tank. The OEM shielding stops short of there since it was routed a little different. Should I put something in between the plastic gas tank and exhaust pipe? Anybody else notice this?
Thanks in advance,

I think the tank is double walled.

I've had the MF exhaust for quite some time with no issues back there. You're probably fine leavin it alone.
