Default RAM Powergrip HD vs. ZOOM Dual sided Kevlar

I'm looking at clutches and I'm stuck between the Ram HD or Zoom Dual sided Kevlar clutch kit, I am leaning towards Ram, but they recommend a billet steel flywheel, when they don't even produce that for lt1 cars.. I really don't know which one to get haha. So any opinions on what to go with is appreciated or if neither let me know what clutch/flywheel I should go with. (it's going into the setup in my sig)

with your mods in sig a ram powergrip hd will easily hold. I have one in my c5 with stock flywheel and it holds nicely. Chatters sometimes but it's not too bad.

I have a slightly used Ram HD clutch and a McLeod Billet Steel Flywheel with about 400 miles on them both. I got a heck of a deal on a street twin and couldn't pass it up. You will need to buy a weight for the flywheel unless your engine is internally balanced, and I'd recommend getting the flywheel resurfaced but that is your call. PM me if your interested. I'll give you some more info about the clutch.

I have a Powergrip HD clutch w/ a Spec billet steel flywheel. It has excellent pedal feel and it definitely grips great, but it definitely chatters if you try to slip it at low revs like you would a stock clutch. For the money though it's really nice and will hold a lot of power. If you want good holding power without the chatter then spend the money for one of the twin disc setups.

Honestly I agree with King, unless you are making a lot of power I'd go with a Spec 3 or 3+, they still hold good power but won't chatter as much as the HD.

I've heard many ppl saying that they liked the spec and I've heard just as many ppl advise against it due to poor quality (I don't really want to put money into a brand when I read about ppl say yeah it's a great clutch and right below ppl say it sucks, sounds to much of a hit and miss kinda deal with spec to me).. I've yet to hear anything poor about the ram clutches minus chatter.

what is the chatter going to hurt your ears my friend has it on his ss with cam and bolt ons and i absolutely love it I've never seen a clutch that cheap that gripped as hard as this clutch it only chatters sometimes

Most of what you here is untrue. All the guys I cruise with run spec 3 or 3+ and have yet to see a problem. A lot of people F**** clutches up during the break-in period and say it was the clutch's fault! Teh only thing wrong with the Spec clutch is, that they don't like to be slipped for the first 500mi. You just got to let it out if it even chirps the tires a lil. After it breaks-in it will smooth right out.

Ran the SPEC 2+, held great but did not last 2500 mi

bought the ZOOM and RAM....compared side by side the ZOOM has more beef on the bones IMHO.

I kept the ZOOM and returned the RAM. Stock flywheel (resurfaced)

383 heads/cam 4400 lb car and the ZOOM holds at the track running a MT ET Street.

Street maners are smoooooooooooooth
