Perfect radiator hose for 71 a-body chevelle
Just letting you guys know for sure that the upper radiator hose for an 82 Buick Rivierra with a 5.7 liter is a perfect fit for using the factory chevelle radiator and standard ls1 water pump
the inlets are the right size and the bends are great...it fits with NO trimming or mods what so ever
$13 at autozone, they even had it in stock
When all is said an done I will be posting a comprehensive list of all the things I've learned during my build on here as well, but this might come in handy right now for some of you guys
I know there are other chevelle build details here, but I'm going to list the CHEAPEST and most cost effective way to do it and do it right all right in hot rodder tradition instead of blowing $1k on a gas tank and $600 on a harness ect, when you can easily reuse what you have.

no problem, I just wish I could remember who suggested it here after looking at some pictures online...he deserves the credit
I have done nothing to it at all, I think with a light trim on the radiator side it will pull away from the power steering a hair

I believe so, and I think it was you, I searched for that part number on another site and came up with 82 buick rivierra
as for the air intake, mine was going to be hitting something else on the driver side, i just can't remember what at the moment so i was going to the pass side anyway

'98 LS1 Camaro hose also works well in Chevelles
To help out the next readers of this thread, I went to Autozone to purchase the '82 Riviera hose and ended up with the Goodyear version (p/n 61162). It fit well enough, but was not as straight as the one pictured above and had too many "z-bends" for my preference. I later read about the '98 Camaro LS1 upper hose being a good fit so I went that route instead. Note, I'm using an aftermarket radiator in my '70 Chevelle but with the radiator hose outlet in the same location as OEM. Pictures of the Riviera hose on the ground and the camaro hose on my engine are attached below for comparison.

This may be a dumb question but how are people getting around the different size engine inlet/ outlet to radiator inlet/ outlet?
my stock '65 radiator has a 1 9/16 upper and 1 3/4 lower while the LS has a 1 5/16 upper and 1 9/16 lower... is there a clean way to adapt the hose?
I have seen the adapters from Jags that run, and that may work for the upper to make a place to put the steam line...but I am not thrilled about the look.

I soldered together copper fittings and added the steam hose barb for the upper hose. This upper hose is the stock 72 cutlass 455.
If you get a lower hose from the same car, no adapter needed (1 3/4 to 1 1/2"), it's the same size as the Olds radiator.
If you get a lower hose from the same car, no adapter needed (1 3/4 to 1 1/2"), it's the same size as the Olds radiator.

The upper radiator hose combination that worked for me was Dayco 71981 (2001 Corvette) spliced with a section of Dayco 71421 (but you could likely use your original upper hose) using a Jags That Run steam vent adapter ( http://www.jagsthatrun.com/Pages/Par...g_LSI-tee.html ) that adapts 1 9/16" to 1 5/16". does the Buick hose mentioned up top fit the stock small block radiator or the big block? The big block one is about 33 inches wide I think. the small block one was only 25 or so and that puts the upper neck in a different spot.
