Default Help: Few question on first build.

Im looking at an Lt1 right now that came out of an 94 camaro. rotating assembly, aluminum heads, Intake manifold , Opti etc almost and complete engine no harness though with 150,xxx miles for $200

Is it worth to rebuild it? Or should I look for another engine with lower miles, this will be an weekend car only not so much at the track mainly street.

hp/tq #'s I want to get around mid to high 500's

Either way Im going to do an complete rebuild but Im wondering If I should go 355 or 383, Or maybe just rebuild the bottom end and play around with the top cam heads etc.

Im on a budget of about 2k on just parts for the bottom end.

Also I plan to get a procharger kit down the road not sure how much boost I would want to run yet.

Sorry if the post is a lil sketchy gotta head out to work right now. I can give more info if needed when I get back home. Appreciate any help.

i would rebuild this...200 is a pretty good deal plus if you are going forced induction and 500+ youll want to upgrade the bottom end so you might as well just get this one rebuilt. if you wanna go all forged 2k is cutting it pretty close on forged crank, rods, and pistons.

http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/produ...0553&=&=&=&=&=

or one from here

Or if you guys know of a better one could you point me in the right direction.

Cam not sure yet, But I know I will be using the stock aluminum intake and heads and get them polished and ported open up the intake for a 58mm TB

everything else still unsure about.

I will be putting an Built A4 behind this with 10bolt rear

Anyone used an engine stand from harbor freight? What bolts size should I use to mount the engine? Or better yet wheres a good place to get some quality ones. Dont want them breaking on me and engine falling over.

Well do you have any suggestions? Anything but a ford rear. I was told I could have a 10bolt 8.5 built to take the abuse from the setup.

Also came across this

Are you sure you want to run the procharger? Because the compression ratio could be anywhere from 8.1-12.1. which is really going to effect the NA hp so i would figure exactly what you want to do.

Whose going to do the top end? What are your plans for that?
500rwhp or flywheel? Fuel, suspension, chasis, etc. What is your plan?

I wanted to try and tackle a little of the top end work myself. What better way to know your engine then to do it yourself?(Mind you I have never built an engine before so do you guys think doing the top end my self is possible) Maybe some 350 rebuild videos? Couldnt find any videos specifically on LT1 just a book.

If possible I would like to put 500 to the wheels. Thats just something I would like to shoot for, but I would be happy around mid to high 400 though.

Fuel I would like to keep it pump gas(Plus)

Suspension I plan to swap out most of it and rest either recondition if I cant replace it.

Edit: If you didnt already know this will be going into an b-body 2door 80's caprice to be exact. Trying to build straight sleeper.. Trying to get a nice idle(come unexpected) nothing too loud, then let their asses have it when I hit the gas
