6.0 Truck Motor Build Help
Hey guys. Im looking to find and build a 6.0 truck motor (anyone have one for me?) and swap it into my 86 Monte Carlo. My goal is to have an easy 400 or more HP and similar TQ at the wheels when its all said and done. So far I know I will be putting longtube headers on am assuming I will need heads and a cam to get me where I want to be.
My unknowns are what head/cam (L92?) combo would best suite my needs for a mainly street drivin car. I would like to have alot of my power under the curve but still not choke it off at high RPMs (plan on shifting 6500 or so.) My second unknown is which intake to go with because I have doubts of the truck intake fitting under the hood. My 3rd and final question for now would be if I need any other bolt ons or supporting mods for my goals.
I know I am a noob here but please work with me here and help me out or at least point me in the right direction. Thanks for your time, Sam

I'd consider a cathedral port head over the L92's for your combo and the power goals you stated. 400/400rw should be fairly easy to attain (particularly on a 6 speed drivetrain) with even a mild camshaft.
As for supporting mods, of course having the usually headers and free flowing exhaust tract, good intake, etc will be to your advantage! Let us know if we can help. We've got all the parts you'll need to make that engine scream

cathedral port head? as in a different style head? I was asking about the L92 head because I was told they are a pretty good bang for your buck and that GM is selling ported L92 heads for $600 a piece. Thoughts?

serioulsly having the stock 317 heads milled will be more than enuff to achieve yor goal of 400rwhp, the 317 are like 243 ls6/ls2 heads with larger chamber. no need to spend any extra on heads, when u alredy have a good set on hand. invest in cam and supporting bolt ons and valve springs instead of heads.
