We need to brainstorm...Trans. heat...
I know the LS4's transmissions have problems with heat so I was thinking on putting a remote fan in front of the cooler I have. This way I can turn it on and off anytime I want. With the 85 degree day today and very high humidity I saw 221 degrees and it took a while to cool off. I already bypassed the radiator and it does take longer for the trans. to come up to temp. I was also thinking on running a 2nd cooler in tandem with the other one. One on each side of the radiator. I know that will keep it from going gover 200 degrees. What are your opinions guys? And please feel free to give some new ideas. Thanks in advance.

Hey Mike
The addition of an electric fan is a definate bonus, mostly for stop`n go or traffic. Constant speed should naturally keep the temps down by just airflow alone.
There is also something else you can do:

bump your tranny fluids reliability to 325* before brakedown

I already have an Aluminum finned pan (5 - 8 degree drop at most) and a large cooler and it still gets hot but just takes longer. Honestly, I dont't think there is enough surface area for the fluid to cool down as much. That leads me into thinking running them in tandem. I may try it just for $hit$ & giggles. lol...

I think it's almost futile. When driving around downtown San Francisco last night the tranny reached 240* in stop and go traffic. Its been about 106-108 degrees today and within a just few mins of driving on the highway (no traffic) it reached 190 degrees. GM's design flaw, I'll let the warranty worry about it lol. Be interesting to see if you guys see some results for sure though.

yeah, us Montes/Impala's don't have that...

Small electric fan should do the trick, you should relay it off something, besides just a switch you will forget. Maybe relay it off the stock fans?
Do you have a fan tune that turns your fans on at a lower temp?

There was cheaper ones but that was at the top of the page. If you already have a cooler i'm sure you could piece it together but this one comes with everything.

functional for heat extraction the back had two 2 inch and two 2.5 inch holes in the back were the fake vents are molded into the shaker really its probably a good way to get the temps down and heat does rise after all
heres an idea mostly partaining to me but how about a forward facing hoodscoop with the tranny cooler mounted where a carb would be on the intake mani. i have always liked the scoops with the butterflies....

A clunk? A transmission will whine when it is low on fluid or there is a crack in the transmission filter. The filter is supposed to sit in the fluid and get sucked up to the pump. If the filter is cracked it will whine because it is drawing in air instead of fluid. Usually the crack is always on the top of the filter so no fluid will get sucked in since air is way less dense than trans fluid. I would check the fluid level and if it's Ok it is still fine to add 1/2 to 3/4 quart and if the whine goes away you need to change the filter an while you are at it put some new fluid in it too. It is reccommended to check the fluid in park on a level surface and make sure it is fully warmed up. To get an accurate reading the fluid needs to be 180* or more. Also, if you had any trans. work done lately make sure the dipstick tube isn't in too far or you will get a false full reading and then the trans. will start to whine.
If it is none of that it could be a bad T. Conv. or a bad input to sun bearing. The input to sun bearing sounds like a PS pump whine. I hope this helps you and good luck with it Nacho.
