Got a "new" Toy/Project!!!
Got an 84 Monte SS today. Bought it for $700, and plan on making it a project car. The 06 is just to expensive and its my DD, so I can't afford for it to break. So I picked up an 84 to turn into a street/strip car. We trailer'ed it home, but it runs. I might put a couple hundred into it and drive it for the winter. Paint is bad, but there isn't any "major" rust. The only bad spots are the bottom corner of the driver side door, and a spot on the passenger side door exterior where it hit the fender when being opened, and peeled the skin back, and the bottom of the trunk lid has a bit on it. Frame is great, interior has potential, its just missing the center console, and the headliner is starting to come down. None of the plastic has much cracks at all, which is amazing for the condition its in. Drivers side seat has a tear, but thats it. This thing just need some TLC, tender loving & care. I hope to make it an 11 or 12 second car for next year, then we will see where it goes from there.
Heres a few pics until I clean it up a little and get more.

Good find and for 700.00. Did you rob the guy at gun point? J/K! lol..
Just make sure the rear body mounts haven't rotted thru the frame rail. Also, if it has A/C make sure the firewall hasn't rotted away as well. I'm sure your ok,
I have owned 4 G bodys and 3 of them I got rid of after finding rust in those areas.
Keep your eye's out for a 8.5" diff from a 442, or T-type Regal. Most had limited slip and are tough as nails. 442's had 3.73's and the Regals had 3.42's.
Check out tech forum on Maliburacing.com they have tons of G body info.
No need to drop in a LS engine.. You can find tons of cheap SB 350's on craigslist for next to nothing. Might as well keep it simple, since the engine will drop right in. If you have bucks to spend then the LS engine is a must!

Thanks guys. The car does look good in the pics, but in person you can see there wear and tear on it. But yes, for 700, I believe I got it for a steal. But the guy I got it from is a buddy my dad races with, in he bought it for a few parts. The car truly is solid, no rust on the floor pans, no rust in the trunk, doesn't look like there is any fireall rust. The only rust we see is on the two doors and decklid, which is barely bad enough to make me find replacements. My uncle has a 355 sbc that I might throw in it. I don't really want to go the lsx route, as we like the old mechanical stuff. We are going to clean the garage out here soon so we can fit another car, then we will start tearing it apart to paint it. From there we will decide what we want to do motor wise, but my uncles 355 sounds like the best bet so far, its got a little work done to it, not sure what though. The car appears to have a turbo 350 trans, if not I will get one and have our trans guy build it for cheap, he does great work on gms older trannies. If i can find a rearend, we will then go that route, they say whats in it will hold up for a short amount of time, so at least I can get it running. I will keep ya guys posted with updates for sure!
