$3000 from dealer here when mine went it just took a crap on me last yr 72,000 miles you would think there would def be a recall i mean i know some of us race these cars but not everyone and we all are replacing the transmissions

You know, its funny because when i had my imp and it was on the first/original tranny i drove the hell out of it and made it past 50K. Only reason it went out was because the geniuses at the deal put power steering in the tranny.

Call Tripple Edge Performance. They can build it or sell you some parts that will help. I put their valve body in, shift kit, pressure relief, and clutch shims. I also went with an Overkill Tune. Had a local shop rebuild it and it's teh way it should have origionally been now. Shifts quick but smooth if I'm light on the gas but will hit hard when my foot is in it. MUCH MUCH better than origional!!!

Quick update...

Dropped the tranny pan n the oil in it looked like it was from and old 1964 motor oil that wasnt ever changed! Luckily that there was not metal shaving on the bottom just sluge build up =/
