Default GXP value?

We are thinking of selling the GXP. What are they going for now? Ours has 63K miles, sunroof, and NAV. Its Red Jewel and was also the only pilot car in this color, that we have been able to find. It is VIN #11 for '08 and was built in April '07. So its kind of a rarity.

Its in pretty good shape with the usual wear and has the normal rock chips. But overall in real good shape. Drives great and gets good gas mileage. Its on a 87 octane tune right now. Never beat on as its my wife's car. Just basically a daily driver. The only mods it has is a CAI and PAL(use Ipod through one of the XM modes) and tune.

So what should we put on it if it goes up for sale?

My 08 with nav. integrated phone. Premium sound. And all the other goodies minus sunroof with around 62k miles only booked for 14, 200 on NADA..

I'd put.it.up for at least 14, 500

There are several "car value" tools that can answer that question for you.

NADA
KBB
Edmunds
Black Book

I have looked online and know what its worth on paper. I was trying to find out what the actual real world numbers would be.

You can also search cars.com and autotrader.com to see what comparable GXPs are listed for. Expect a car to actually sell for ~$500-$1000 less than the listed price.

There were only 50,000 something W platform cars with the 5.3 in them built between 05-08 at all, and only a small portion of those are GXP's, rare indeed. I would think they will have a nice value in the years to come, if not a slight collector status down the road. There is no reason you shouldn't get 10,000-11,000 for your car. I would start posting it on craigslist for 13k, and just see what kind of offers you get and if you need to drop it down at some point go from there.

Hmmm collector status? Im not to sure about that. They definitely wont go up in value down the road. They werent a highly sought after car to begin with I doubt theyll pick up steam in years to come .

Notice how I said "slight" collector status. I didn't mean they will become our generations drop top 71' hemi cuda. But no matter what it is, if a car is in some way unique it's nigh guaranteed there will be a crop of people even if small that will collect them. Even if because in most peoples minds it's an exceptionally bad car haha.

These will be collector cars like people thought Fieros would be, which is to say, it will take about 20+ years for them to even stabilize from the heavy depreciation they've already undergone.

As for the for the production totals, about 82,000 LS4 cars were built between 2005 and 2009, and 17990 were GP GXPs. So, they're relatively rare, but the flawed nature of our cars means that they're certainly no investment.

The only LS4 that has even a remote chance of being considered collectible anytime soon would be the LaCrosse Super, mainly because GM only built 2416 of them, and they combined a lot of the best attributes of the ISS and GXP. They were also the best looking, at least IMHO, but that's subjective!

As far as collector cars, I don't see it. These weren't that popular, for the most part. I'm sure there will be a few people that would go out of their way for these just like any other low production piece but it won't bring the money so to speak.

I have yet to see a Super in person but does that mean its worth collector value?

Exactly. That's why I said it *MIGHT* have a remote chance of being collecetible. I didn't say it was certain or even likely.

The reality is, in 10 to 15 years time, these cars will be only marginally more valuable than their 6-cylinder bretheren.

More like the Corvair

Finding parts will give future owners fits too. I figure it is better to hang onto mine, then to let it go for nothing. After all, I bought it for $30,000 brand spanking new, and have put (cough… cough..) around $7,000 into it.

It is.. what it is.. Fortunately, life goes on!

I am pretty sure you could get $12,000 which is a deal IMO. Let us know how it goes.

Based on what I saw when I was looking for my GXP this past fall, you should be able to get $12k pretty easily. Most I was coming across were asking $15k or so. I had a pretty decent angle that helped me negotiate below 12k for my 07, but I was fully expecting to pay $12,500 or so after all haggling was done. I would ask $14,500 or $15,000 and see if you can get $13,000. I don't know what the market is there though. The economy in Texas is still doing well and may have affected the pricing some.

Thanks for all the replies.

Kind of ironic... I've seen a Super, but haven't seen a GP GXP yet. Any LS4 that isn't an Impala is rare around here though.

picked up my black 05 GXP for 9,300 plus sales tax. Fully loaded, nav. Nav alone in these cars is rarity. Unless you wanna slap a vette nav in em.
