Default Service Tire Monitor?

Anyone have this problem? The display started displaying this message, not constant, but it came on twice today in my 150 mile drive. Is one of the senors in the tire going bad? Please chime in with your finds.

Thanks!

My right rear has been intermittant for months. I just can't seem to want to drop it off at the dealer for service on such a petty issue.

It's a very common problem that involves replacing the remote keyless entry receiver and antenna, the dealership will even get you new key fobs.

^^^^^^ What he said! ^^^^^^ The new unit should also provide better range from the fobs, but good luck with that

Well I brought the car in this morning, and they told me it's going to need a new receiver and keyless fobs. He also said something about the onstar battery being dead, don't know what that is about. Anyhow, at least they gave me a yellow Cobalt SS as a loaner

yeah, my new module/antenna/reprogram got my remote start range increased from 10' (and only if I was facing the antenna) to well over 200'.

I never really had any problems with my key fob range, but it's good to know that it will only be even better after this update. I'm still wondering about this onstar battery, I wasn't even aware that it ran off of a separate battery. I'll have to ask them more about it tomarrow.

Seems like my monte carlo has had every problem discussed. Keyfob/Tire pessure monitoring system , Battery in the onstar , Body Control Module "Seat belt issues" , Clanking/knocking in the steering , Power Seat stoped functioning. Only thing i havn't had is starting issues or battery issues. I guess thats next week , possibly this afternoon.

Well, I got the car back yesterday, they did the new antenna/module, and onstar battery. Of course the Service Tire Monitor light comes back on . I wonder what the hell is wrong with this thing, kind of frustrating after leaving it with them for two days and having the same problem. Oh well, guess I'll have to go back on Monday

Have you tried the "relearn tire positions" thing in the DIC?

Yeah I did try that, didn't make a difference unfortunately. Sometimes I think too much technology can make things a hassle, this is the first vehicle I've had with the TPMS, and it didn't take long for it to start giving me trouble

My TPMS was quiet for a while but got an error last night, with no reading at the front left tire. Usually happens when nearing 100mph, but i was only going 75 or so. Got to my game, turned off the car for over an hour, and the warning greeted me when i returned. I just don't have time to complain to the dealer about it.

Funny you mention that, I was on the highway slowing down from about 90mph when mine came on too. Then I let the car sit for a few hours, came back out and restarted it, and the light came on immediately. It usually doesn't come on until you start driving for a few miles.

Played football this AM...woke up to the Check TPMS error on the DIC...ignored it as usual. Leaving the field, no error What a POS system.

It used to do that with my airbags---kinda scary of you ask me. These cars have more electrical bugs that a beehive (I've said before)!

i had a huge argument with the dealer regarding the stupid TPMS. My right from tire would never read so i bring it in, they kept saying i must've had a flat tire, and 1000 times i told them that i never had. i tried that relearning thing too (which is like a mean game if you ask me...) and that didn't help either. After them having my car for 3 days, they scratched my hood and front bumper and my key fob sequence for remote start opened my trunk instead. A day later, the light came back on. I had to take my car back 5 times in 1 month for this stupid problem, and it still goes off when i'm slowing down from 75 or so (usually when the tires get really hot).

It's a POS system, i agree very much. the fact that the pressures are constantly changing anyway while you're driving, or when it's hot or cold or whatever, it's almost pointless, unless you're really horrible at maintaining tire pressure.

Funny thing is, My dad has this on his car, and we changed wheels/tires (which usually drives TPMS up a freakin wall) and there hasn't been any peeps from the system, but now my car does it tooo....

Bizarre ... last night mine had a warning, the colder weather had all of my tires at 31 PSI, which I think 32 is recommended.

Yeah, this PSI system is a POS, but kind of a cool feature to have. Wish you could clear the message once, and forget about it.
