I'm looking into buying a 94 lt1 with an auto tranny. According to the owner the emissions numbers are alll well within spec. It failed a 3 minute run test. Not sure what that means. The owner says it apparently runs perfectly. The mechanic says that the part needed for it is a $500 item near the distributor and difficult to get to. Not sure if he meant the part was $500 including labor or if the part was $500.

Any idea what the part in question is?

3 Minute run test? Maybe during the smog test it was tested for a 3 minute period??? What modifications are done to the car? As far as the part for $500 goes, maybe he is talking about the opti unit but thats nowhere near $500.

theres nothing near the opti that cost that much or has anything to do with emmsions.
theres a smog pump on the drivers side of the car. it may have went bad

+1 but the pump isnt hard to get to. they didnt give you a sheet with the test results?
