Default Storing a shortblock for the winter

I plan on buying a shortblock next week. I was wondering how I should store it to prevent the cylinder walls from rusting. It will be in the basement. I need to store it for about 6 months at the max.

i would just use a light oil on the walls and bag it on the stand. mine sat for two months in the garage bagged without re-oiling and noticed no rust.

Yea I would smear with 30wt oil also. Maybe rotate it over by hand once in a while and re-smear with oil.

You can store it in my car.....you might not get it back working but there wont be any rust! It would be fun to have a block just to spray the **** out of and see what happens?
