LT1 build up ????
what pistons are you all using to keep it on pump gas seems like you have 2 have like atleast -15cc or so .
im going 2 build a 355 or 383 lt1 just getting some ideas, i got a bunck of stuff from a guy this weekend 96 97 lt1 looks like not too many miles should i reuse the lifters? any one using a carb & dist setup?

Settle down and do a lot of reading first.
If you do a 355 sticking with the stock crank would be wise it is better than a lot of the cheap aftermaret stuff, I would use it before a $450 chinese machined forged unit.
You can get away with flat tops in a 355, yes compression is high but the LT1 allows a LOT opf compression compared to a lot of other motors, 12:1 is not unheard of, with a 383 yes you are probably going to need a 16cc dish.
Why do you want 5.7" rods? I would use 6.0" for the lighter piston they allow, makes life easier on the rodbolts.
The carb and distributor has been done mostly out of ignorance, for a street car the stock injection can handle a LOT and is cheaper and easier to tune than most realize, a carbed setup will cost at least as much or more than just the injectors and tuning for the stock setup.
If a track only car and you are comfortable with a carb then I suppose it can make sense.
You can reuse stock lifters if they are in good shape, most of us do on heads/cam swaps but you can gt newones for like $100 so if building a whole new engine why not just replace them.
You failed to mention head work, it is THE key to power, put together a 383 and don't have the heads done and the average heads/cam car will embarass you badly.

ya my heads will be ported, but i dont see how a fulie lt1 is easier to tune than a carb setup why do u say that? i dont have a dyno or software. i also have to wire this up because its going in a 72' x-body
