Default M6 removal

how many bolts hold the tranny to the engine. ive pulled out 4 bolts, and cant get the tranny off. its an lt1 with an m6

There are 8 Bolts that hold the Tranny to the Bell Housing. Try pulling that off first, then pulling the Bell Housing off of the Engine. That has 6 Bolts, and you will see them easier doing it this way.

If you don't release the clutch fork, you won't be able to get the transmission out.

It's a PITA!! to pull the tranny out with the bellhousing on. Remove the tranny from the bellhousing and then remove the bellhousing.

Just pulled mine today. Top driver side trans to bellhousing bolt use about 2ft. of extension. Top passenger use a flex head right at the socket. Pull the other 6 easy as hell bolts. Pull the slave, pull the clutch fork back.

You def. want to pull the trans from the bellhousing first as people have already stated, will make life a lot easier.

On the upper driver bellhousing bolt I will be putting a dent there before I stick this all back together this time, that is the only one where you can't really get a socket on it, its dumb.

dont forget to have the tranny supported WELL. That thing is a heavy sumbitch, especially by yourself.

I've done that already..so I know exactly what you are talking about..lol

i got a nice long 1/2 to 3/8 drive extension with 3/8 impact swivels. thank you 1/2" impact gun
