Default 9c1 LT1 w/ 4l60e out of 96 police cruiser

anyone know if the transmission on this is the same as the f-body? Have a 97 ws6 formula with 4l60e and looking for a cheap core to build since mine doesn't have long left, 3rd is going slowly. Might end up getting it anyway for my 89TA, anyone know of fitment on it as well?

I know the tailshaft housing is different, easily swapped over though.

I do not know about any internal differences.

I can tell you that the fact it came from a 9C1 "cop car" is absolutely meaningless, it got nothing special, it is just a b-body tranny.

If you can find out what if any changes there were from 96 to 97 that would be the rest of your answer.

I know within the LT1 b-body years of 94-96 all three years are individually different to some degree.

I was told by Carl Rossler that 95-97 will interchange ant the 94 year has a different valve body with at least one different solenoid. That is as in depth as I can remember though.

thanks guys, i'm to the point of baby'ing mine, a couple WOT launches and it has problems finding 3rd until it cools down, just got the car in september and it's had a 3-2 solenoid issue since then, once it's warm, i have access to all gears, but below 70degrees outside temp and i have to let it warm then restart it and drives fine. basically looking to get a 4l60e i can rebuild over the next month or two, so it comes with a iron head lt1 and lt1 aluminum heads for about 5Bills, not too bad of a deal???

A functioning iron head LT1/4L60E and spare aluminum heads for 5 bills, that's a hell of a deal.
