Cap/Rotor problems...
Been running the setup in my sig last year, and the car runs great N/A, no problems. When I spray the car, there's an intermittent miss throughout the rpm range. Plugs are gapped at .035, TR6s. Took the opti off today to find this:
Looks like the rotor button is rubbing on the cap itself.... could this be part of the problem and what would cause them to rub? This is a GM opti with an MSD Cap/rotor

Is there any lateral "play" in the distributor's shaft, if you rotate it? It looks like the bushing that retains the shaft has worn, and is allowing the rotor to "wobble", and contact the cap as it rotates.
I recently had to replace my opti for the same reason. The car was running OK, however I was detecting a bit of a "ticking" noise, and that is what it turned out to be.

Thanks guys. I am finding out this is an inherant problem with the MSD cap/rotor. Several guys over on the impala forum had the same problems. The funny thing is the car ran great all motor. Go figure
