So assuming you have an auto, is it possible that you unbolted the tranny from the engine but didn't unbolt the TC from the flexplate? You have to unbolt the TC and drop it with the tranny, otherwise the tranny will hit the body before you can pull it out far enough to drop it.

I pulled my 4L60E out the other day actually. You didn't specify what tranny but if auto this applies. Make sure to disconnect the stall from the flexplate. Their are 3 bolts that hold them together. Since you have the stock stall I believe you will need a Torx 45+ tool, don't quote me on that though. Other than that did you disconnect the 2 cooler lines up top? The dipstick tube? I'm assuming you have the driveshaft and crossmember out and the torque arm disconnected so that covers everything.

So you are trying to pull the tranny from the bellhousing first and not the trying to pull both the tranny and bellhousing at the same time correct?
I am assuming that you didn't unbolt the slave and pull the clutch fork, thereby disengaging the clutch fork from the T/O bearing. You just have to pull it outward, it will pop out about an inch, then you should be able to drop the tranny.
