Default edelbrock intake...worth it?

anybody have expierience with the edelbrock intake for LT1's? everything else on the motors stock, and i know i would have to port match the LT1 heads to the gasket, but for 465$ i just want some input first, and any suggestions of other intakes that are better would help too. thanks

nooo for that money would be better off having ai or Lloyd port your stocker and buy some red spray paint.

It is essentially the same as a stock intake.

A set of headers is a better investment.

Impulse buy huh? :\ In the age of the internet, I research as much as I can before buying anything. If you can't find anything on it, join a forum and post a question Utilize the wealth of information that we have! (Not a bash, just helpful advice)

Exactly, have either one of these companies get you squared away with your stock manifold

While I agree. Just sort of dawned on me, that he most likely doesn't even need his intake worked on. Stock one works quite well for up to mild H/C setups, so the money spent on the intake porting could be put to better use, depending on where he sits with mods and what he's doing that he thinks he may need the intake.

If he has H/C already, injectors or a tune might be better worth that money.

True, ported intake is low on the totem pole of LT1 mods.

Very true...what he really need to do is inform us of what modifications are done to his car at this point...

thanks for all the input...basically the idea here is that its stock right now, 100,000 miles, and i want to do performance mods to the engine to make decent hp...i want to re-iterate DECENT... i dont have crazy high expectations for a low budget like mine, i just want mods that are worth the cash and wont make the car expensive to drive.even though i have a tight budget, im not in a rush and i can save money.
my thinking process right now is that the best mod for an engine is to make it breathe better, since an engine is basically an air pump. thats why i was thinking intake. any suggestions on whats good mods to start with would be great. i keep hearing good things about the air foil, but my question is, is it worth it on a stock throttle body or should i upgrade the throttlebody also? i hear that doing a bypass of the coolant through the throttle body is worth it also...any sites that have good aftermarket parts would help too, ive been looking but alot of them seem sketchy. thanks in advanced!

That Edelbrock intake is a waste of aluminum. The dyno test I read (very mild engine), it actually lost a couple HP/TQ compared to the stock intake.

Mods, in order of most 'bang for the buck'...
1. Camshaft
2. Camshaft
3. Camshaft
4. Camshaft
5. Camshaft

anothr quick question...i have no maintenance history on the car at all, so with 90k miles, what typically goes bad on these first? i know that if you dont notice the waterpump leaking it ruins the opti-spark, and i know about plugs and wires and the basic tune up stuff like that, but is there anything specific to LT1's that crap out? thanks in advanced
