Default Different oil pressure sensor positions...why?

Just curious if anyone has come across a reason why the oil pressure sensor went from off the oil filter housing area on the early model engines to behind the intake on 94+? Any plus or minus or do they achieve exactly the same result in either location with zero benefit or detriment either way?

While it might read slightly lower at the top of the block than by the oil filter, there is absolutely no benefit/detriment to using either location. It's simply a sensor that allows you to gauge your oil pressure.

Should be the same pressure at either location. They might have moved it in preparation for cat converter clearance on later models, but who knows. It doesn't really matter.
