You might have a burnt plugwire, because one of mine I need to replace because of this. When its really warm out and I start it up it will pop sparatically for like 30 seconds then goes away. Check them.

normal on alot of LT1s, but if its really bad it could be the opti, coil, plug wires, plugs, missadjusted RRs or tune.

Exhaust leak as well possibly...pulling in air and popping in the exhaust right past the collector area. It is where mine does it...about under where the cat used to be. I think I have a slight leak though as I swear I hear that ticking somewhere under there but haven't been able to locate it. On decel and on/off throttle real quick there is some raw fuel that will make its way in there and ignite if there is enough heat and air to allow it to happen.

Reviving this thread! Just wanted to know quick if the exhaust leak would cause raw fuel getting down there? If so mind explaining how?

I have a leak where my manifold meets my Y-pipe and got a couple weeks before I get some headers.

I had this issue as well, and it was concurrent with trouble I was having with the OPTI

So it could possibly be the opti not doing its spark thang, which would be me having a spark plug or multiple not firing and the reason for the unburnt fuel in my exhaust? Opti doesn't seem to be the problem, seems like all the cylinders are firing? I feel like it is just this exhaust leak causing the pop. But I have no explanation as to why unburnt fuel would be down there just because of a leak?

Just a kid trying to learn so cut me a break if this **** is common sense or something.. Doesn't seem so.

Thanks!
