Lifters wont pump up.
I just got done installing the cc503. I ran the car for about a total of a minute and it dont sound like any of the lifters are trying to pump up. They are new LS7 lifters. I did soak them in oil for a bit before the install. Ive pulled the valve cover and i can push down on the rocker and the plunger might move .020 or so on most. Has anyone ever had a problem like this. They are noisy enough that the car wont stay running without some throttle because the knock sensor is probably pullin timing.

Yea i set it before i put the intake on so i could see the plunger move. I got a turn of preload on them. Im planning on going back through them today. I dont think theres nothing else it could be other than the lifters.

It often takes some time to get the lifters oiled up. Run it at about 1500 RPM until they do. (or you might be one of those people that say they never oil up. There are some that say that, but I don't know why)

I had to raise my rpm to get them to start oiling but they pumped up almost instantly. I would do as shbox suggested and run it at 1500 to 2000 until they quiet down and start slinging oil.

Evidently its more than lifters. I raised the rpms up and when the rockers started oiling it started clouding the smoke out of the exhaust. The sound of the motor didnt change it just started rolling the smoke. Im pretty sure you can rule out bent valves because all eight cyl are definitly firing.

Old ones had 162,000 miles on em. just replaced them for piece of mind. I figured out its not the lifters. Gotta pull the motor. Haha if i didnt have bad luck i wouldnt have any.

most of comps install instructions tell you to run the car at 1500 to 2000 rpms for about 30 mintues to break in the cam.. but your luck is proly like mine.. BAD

One thing that people might be forgetting is to first soak new lifters in solvent to get rid of all machining lube and sticky protectant. Then you oil them. That might be causing some people slow startup oiling issues.

Flat tappet-not roller cams need break-in, but the RPMs are good to get the oil going.

I was also concerned about my new LS7 liftes before I installed them. I could only push in the plunger on maybe one or two of them. The rest seemed to be stuck. I ran back and forth to several parts dealerships and 90% of the new ones I tested were all like this. The people there had no explaination and didnt know whether or not it was normal. I installed them anyway after soaking them real good. I just made sure that I had everything else done correctly. Pushrod length, spring height, tightening the rockers, etc.. So far everything has been fine. It's been about seven months.
