It's pretty old technology and has lazy lobes. You might be able to get away without a tune but why would you want to anyways. A tune benefits even a bolt-on car so not tuning a cammed one would simply be silly. Check out the cam sticky at the top of the forum for more camshaft info.

If your not going to anything else mod wise it may not be a bad way to go. All you would really need would be springs. But if your going to do some bolt ons and a cam something like the cc503 (mentioned above) would make great power. Lots of stalled autos running high 11's, stock heads.

Agree with everyone here. Forget about any of the 300 series cams. If you can't go with a 503, get a 501 because it requires no mods. 503 has become the standard for LT1 cam swaps it seems. You can always install it and do supporting mods when you can afford it. The guys here are right, if you spend all that money and go too small you will be unhappy later. Take a look at the XFI cam only thread - 230/236 and really nice numbers.
