Lightbulb hard to start all of a sudden ???

I've had my car out since april. Its been fine no problems. Today I get in it to goto work and it just cranks. Not even a pop like it wants to start. I hold down the pedal to shut off fuel and it pops a couple times and starts. When its running the motor doesn't even shake. Its def not down on power I can light up the tires in second and third makes a nice bawk . Any ideas ??? I just went out on break at work and the same thing only this time it took even longer to start after cranking for a while. Help please !

Sounds like classic fuel pump failure. Get a gauge on the fuel rail and see what you come up with.

Ram air - You think so even if when its running I don't feel down any power than normal ? It is possible being 13 yrs old. I will look into that. 9sec - Okay I will go out on lunch with a flashlight and check that ground connection. I should also mention no ses light and no break up under load.

Disturbed has won a prize. It takes 6 key cycles to get max pressure. After the pump shuts off the pressure immediately starts to drop. Running its steady at 37 and fpr unplugged is 43. As soon as I shut the car off, the pressure is at 0 in about 10 seconds. Time to pull the tank :/

The other option is to cut a fuel pump hatch which is getting increasingly more popular and common. A quick search will yield dimensions, or just eye-ball it.

That's very tempting. But since I'm going to be ordering the racetronix kit and new shocks and I have new rear springs(old were sagging). I'm just gonna rip it all down. I just scored acces to a lift for a couple days where I used to work whenever I need it so I should be pretty good. Thanks for the help.

Good luck. Cutting the hatch is a thousand times easier!

Agreed, and it will make another change out possible very quickly if the problem ever arises again.

For the comment on not being low on power even with a weak pump. When my pump was going out, at WOT the most pressure the guage seen was 23psi and it felt exactly the same after the new pump. So it goes to show you i guess.

Ram air - thanks shouldn't be to bad. I've got all day and nothing else to do. I don't mind working on my cars so much now that I'm out of the profession and not doing it 40+ hrs a week.

Hmmm. That's good to know sitting in the parking lot it would jump to 40 psi with a blip of the throttle. There wasn't any where near the shop for me to really get it under wot without going to jail lol
