Default Best exhaust headers?

Not looking to spend a great deal of money, but something reasonable, maybe 300-400ish. pretty sure I wanna go with long tubes. suggestions? This will be for a weekend driver/strip and street car. I've heard E-bay headers are so-so and can do a bit of fabbing on them if i have to. Is it easier to change spark plugs with long tubes? I would love me some shiny ceramic headers

Go with BBK headers you can get chrome ones with y-pipe for less than 4 at ws6store, but they mite take a while to get when i ordered mine they were on backorder for a month or so. But they are worth it they have the O2 bungs on the headers and the y-pipe has them for the rear 02's. they also dont have EGR or AIR

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. Anybody have experience with OBX racing sports? Found it on e-bay and seems like its a knockoff. they dont even have a part number!

Mac midtubes were on my old z28. It was the mid tubes no cat and magnaflow cat back. It was a very nice set up and made lots more power after the install. But I'm still waiting until I install my pacesetter LTs on my new Z28 for comparison.

i'm actually having pacesetters installed right now. i spent about $800 total on everything. that includes spark plugs, wires, otvc kit, headers and y pipe, a cutout, gaskets, extensions, motor mounts, emissions blockoff plates, and whatever else i am sure i am missing. i got the ceramic coated ones from shon. he has really good prices and free shipping. the coating is pretty nice. they have o2 bungs too. and he has emissions ones for only a little bit more too.

If I were you, I'd look for coated used LT's. My Hooker SuperComp's had holes for the o2's. You may want to re-evaluate the cost here. While you are doing the swap you'll need o2 extensions, OEM gaskets, some kind of Y or X pipe, and you should also look into getting it tuned as well.

My T/A's 4L60e shifted funky after the install. I got a mail order shortly after and it ran like a beast. It was in some kind of limp mode.

Hey:

If your plans are to keep the car long term then don't even consider anything other than 304 or 321 stainless steel. Go with a cheap pair of stainless LT headers, if you have any fab skills and are a tolerant person.
They won't rust, they stay shiny, the coating does not burn off, and run cooler than regular old painted steel headers. If you find them at the right price you still afford to send them off to be jet hot coated if you so desire.
but be advised most of the ceramic coatings don't last and the cheap steel can still rust underneath the coating.
Ebay has plenty of stainless LT1 Long tubes to choose from for F bodys and some are even styled after the Pacesetter brand or even Kooks, but a lot cheaper than you can buy either of those for new. They have plenty of write ups on the issues people have had with stainless ebay LTs, if you use the search on here, and most seem very happy for what they got VS what they spent. Good Luck on your choice.

Dub

Your not going to beat Pacesetters price point for a LT/Y combo. I had them when i was bolt on and i just swapped back to them from hedmans.

Just got my Pacesetter coated lt's last Friday from Speed Engineering for $396.00 shipped. They look great and have thick head flanges. I'm gonna cry when they get scratched from the install!

I think he meant to say Edelbrock shorties suck ***. I have a pair that came with a parts car and I bet you wouldn't gain anything going to them from manifolds. They have the most hideous design I have seen. The primaries crammed down to a D shape and shoved into a tiny collector, and the Y junction had the same issue. The pipes are crammed into a D and shoved into a piece of 3". I can't believe Edelbrock put their name on such junk and really would have doubts about getting anything from them now.
