Cool Oil Pan Removal

My oil pan looks like it has been jacked up on by the previous owner. I was wondering how easy it is to swap out the oil pan when the transmission is out of the car. Does the motor have to be lifted or can the oil pan be slid out the back without raising it up?

you might still have to lift the motor because the pan still has to clear the crank

You just need to lift the engine a few inches. It will be a lot easier with the trans out. definitaly do it now while its out. its a pretty straight forward job

It isn't out yet. I am just trying to plan ahead. The car will be getting a new clutch this summer... I was just wondering if then would be a good time or if it is just as hard without the trans in as it is with it out.

Thanks for the responses guys!

with an M6 its more difficult with the trans in the car. Do it when its out.

Maybe if you were a little more clear in your first post we wouldnt have assumed it wasnt out already, just sayin.....

Sorry, it didn't really seem like a big deal weather it was out NOW or LATER. It's still the same question and same answer..... Just sayin.
