I gasket matched my intake and heads myself. Not real hard but pretty easy to screw up if your not careful.
I am guessing that he gasket matched your heads when porting them. You want to start by verifying this first then by marking the intake I didn't have any of the mechanist dye so I used a sharpie then scribed my outline with a sharp scribe I then opened the outside to match my scribe then cleaned out the runners... It is very time consuming and you will want to make sure your work area is at a suitable height.

There's absolutely no need to touch the stock intake manifold on 95% of builds. Even "gasket matching" does not prove to be beneficial. There are far more risks involved than any potential gains.
Stick with opening up the plenum to accept a 58mm throttle body - that's it.
