Just go to any parts store. It's FAR cheaper than OEM and more readily available.

That $94.00 GM hose is probably $20 at Autozone/Advance.

I take that back it's not that much cheaper since auto zone stocks only the tb hose and advanced stocks the 2 that connect to the water pump, and then napa sells them all but It's the same freakin price and I have to put it back together. 96 bucks at napa plus tax.
For the 5 hoses it's
24.95, 12.29, 21.99, 11.99, & 25.49 = 96.71 with out tax or any shipping.
GM parts direct costs are 96.32 + shipping of 22.67 (WOW)=117.14

I'm gona stop by autozone and advanced tomorrow and see but this is a problem I have been running into A LOT latley. These parts stores are just not carring crap any more or carry only really cheap junk. I'm gona check rockauto and see if they carry anything.

70 to 80 bucks shipped to the door from Rockauto.com I am just shocked.... And rockauto is almost always cheaper. at 70 to 80 bucks it's almost worth buying the GM one as I don't have to spend the time on it. hum I'm gona have to think about this one some more.

A rubber hose may be exposed to too much heat in places and burn up. The GM hose may not be available too much longer as many parts are being rapidly discontinued.

I agree, and just as a matter of preventive maintenance, I replaced the heater hose ***'y. in my '96 Z-28, about 6-7 years ago. What a PITA, as quite obviously, this assembly is installed into the car before the engine is!!!

(I suppose I should buy another ***'y, as I plan on keeping the car for a while longer...)

Exactly, it took me 3 months to get mine when I ordered one back in '08.

Yes, it is very much a pain to install. I would recommend to anyone that has their engine out, to consider replacing the pipe assy. Even the "newest LT1 f-body is now 14 years old and hoses don't last forever.

I talked to a parts guy at the local Chevy dealer and there are still a lot of these around for now. But like you said in a latter post these are at least 14 years old now and since the only aftermarket solution is to replace just the rubbers there may be a run on these things.
I did price the individual rubber hoses to replace them on the stock aluminum pipes and it comes out the same price at Napa and it looks like all the other parts stores have to special order them and they have really jumped in price. Last year when I was thinking about doing this you could get the 5 or so hoses you need to replace on the stock aluminum pipes for a total of 45 bucks. Now the cheapest I can find replacements is at rockauto.com at 80 bucks. It is almost worth it to get the GM part as the costs are very close. My local parts stores want to charge me I guess a shipping charge on the special order crap.
I don't know, I have been working on the 97 z-28, my 98 Tahoe, and 2004 grand prix gt latley and the cost of replacemnet parts has been going up rapidly for the past 2 years and most of the big parts stores don't carry the selection they used to either. Rockauto.com is one of the only places I have been abile to find a good selection at good prices. Summit now carries what my local parts stores used to, but they can be a little pricey on certian stuff.

"shbox", you bring up a good point about the "newest" LT1 cars now being 14 years old. However, how long ago do you think the "newest" replacement heater hose assemblies for those cars were made? Just something to consider.....

No way to really know that. How do you know the age of any hose you buy?
