how open are you talking about?

open header? open y pipe? no muffler?

either way it's really loud and will get old quick. catbacks and dual setups aren't that expensive.

open y sounds good IMO until it gets raspy. had my Y off today while i started fabbing up the new true dual side exits and decided to start it up and give it a rev with the open headers. its alot tamer than i remembered and didnt have any rasp at all up to 4k rpm when i let off. kinda considered leaving the y off cuz it sounds so good but i figured it better just to keep it till the duals are finished. not sure about the gains though as i still haven't got my o2 extensions so the car definitly isnt running at its peak.

Open y with longtubes here.

Sounds like a dumptruck at low rpms, sweet at full throttle.
Not really raspy at all.

Much better than open headers though, plus I won't burn out my O2s

I usually just run open cutout but I recently hacked off the tailpipes of my SLP. Looks way better w/o tips hanging out the back imo. Pretty loud but it sounds decent.

This is with the cutout open

open headers sound great on my ride just way too loud to DD. Never tested it at the track but top end feels great and low end feels slower.

Absolutely. I'm probably losing about 20HP with it closed, considering I'm running a standard 3" Hooker Aerochamber catback on a ~575HP motor.

With a cut out open mine feels way better all around. Open headers just not enough BP in the low end on the street. Like joe said I gained 17rwhp on the dyno with it open vs closed
