Default Locked up steering

I have a 97ss and I pulled into a parking spot at work and the steering locked up on me. At first thjought it might have been belt due to it being an original at 52,000 miles. Got out with the car running and popped the hood and there was a belt. I got back in the car steering would not move again (at all). Car turned off checked fluid and was full and has been fully swaped twice in the cars life. All I can think of is the rack and pinion has an issue but it wouldnt move right or left. Started the car and checked it again and the problem went away. I looked around the column and rod ends and cannot see anything that may have been binding up (car is bone stock). The car is parked and I am about to go purchase a new pump and rack and pinion but not convinced that this is the issue. This is my fourth 4th gen and never had any issues like this with any of my cars...........WTF???

I thought about that too. Spent the weekend looking for an issue and only found a bad plug wire boot on #5 at the optispark. That's one of the reasons why I haven't went out and got the other items. Might be time for a 5th gen........errrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!

Its more than likely the steering lock in the column in my opinion.
