lt1 5.7 sleeper caprice 13 second run?
My car is a 1996 Caprice 9C1 with 114,000 miles and my goal is to exceed over a 13 second run on a 1/4 mile with a stock bottom end and keeping the costs at a low budget.
I've only done a few common cheap mods to the car, cold air intake, throttle body bypass, deleted mufflers and resonators on stock exhuast.
Here's a list of what I plan on doing to the car so far, I still haven't decided on a few things like transmission and need guidance and suggestions.
exhaust: long tube headers / fake cats / 2.5 exhaust / spintech sportsman xl mufflers / pre axle dumps
ignition: gm performance ac delco optispark distributor / msd 8.5 wires / ac delco plugs
differential: ford 8" rear end with 3.73 gears with a eaton posi unit and disc brakes.
pcm tuning: 93 octane conversion, delete rear oxygen sensors, air pump delete.

if you have the cash for all that then I would suggest a more aggressive cam than stock (with all supporting valve train), plus a stall. I would think that this alone would put you in the high 13s at least.. but then again I don't know much about B-bodies

Most definately keep that 8.5! I know a guy that has an amazingly fast (9.xx @ over 150 MPH) Impala SS and he is still using the 10 bolt housing that came with the car.
