Default heads!!

Ok I'm looking at my build and figuring costs I'm doing a 355 build with a gm847 cam .... I know don't bash my cam choice but I'm trying to figure the cost of parts and labor for heads and I have a set of good 95z28 lt1 heads that I was looking to do 2.00/1.56 valves and a stage 2 port and polish and its adding up which I figured wouldn't be cheap but I'm wondering if you guys think a set of trick flows or Afr heads are a better choice ? Any comments would help

my dart 180s run well (no #'s, sorry) with that cam. if you decide to rework some stock heads spend more on the "port" than you do on the "polish".

No complaints here with my ported stockers. Ported 21 degree trickflows would probably be worth a few hp over my setup though.

I would pick ported stockers over most non-ported aftermarket castings anyday.

A good H/C/I setup done PROPERLY with all of the bolt-ons plus tuning will run you around $3500-$4000.

What's a base guess on the price for a good port job similar to Le2 ? I'm just weary on which machine shop to have do they work the prices have been ranging from 500 to 900 for porting . I know paying more is sometimes better but I just don't know if I'm getting screwed

Using local machine shops are usually more miss than hit and are often no more than just a gasket match and clean-up - you usually get what you pay for.

AI and LE are the "big two," but I am obliged to say that there are others out there that do LT1 heads as well. It does not sound like you are looking to set the world on fire so I'd start with AI or LE.

Ok sorry about all the questions but does anyone know the price of something similar to LE2s from AI. I checked the website and they don't list a price and I'm just pricing them out and being the weekend I assume they are closed

The AI 190s are probably closest to LE2s...the price is listed.
