Default I want this Z, is it worth it?

There is a 97 Z28 on CL that I want BAD. $2500 for it with a "blown HG" which I think is just a Water Pump, I'm pretty sure I could get hime to $2000. Think its worth it?

Those wheels don't belong on a 4th gen, they have the wrong offset in back. It would look better with some clean salad shootoers, those "custom" wheels are just cheapo steel mags. See how far they stick out in back? Go check the car out. If it does have a blown head gasket it will have white smoke on startup. Regardless if it's a head gasket or a water pump, the parts to fix it are cheap, it's just a lot of labor. There's no shop that I know of that would do a head gasket job for $1100. That is a solid 2 day job at $80 an hour. Plus the head needs to be checked. Parts will be roughly $200ish.

I would pass on it also. Could have alot more problems down the road. They probably ran it into the ground.

x2

You won't be able to drive it. The tranny might be slipping, the motor might be down on power and/or have low oil pressure, it might pull to the left or right, the brake might be bad, etc, etc. The car could have a lot of problems that you won't be able to check without a test spin.

$1500 and no more. Its not worth 2500. $1000 and i pick up cars with bad optis.. headgaskets are a little more work but part cost a little less.

would be a nice car either way its always fixable.. but that fact you cant drive it who knows how many issues, 1500 or less or find another one you can drive, with no problems, less miles and pick it up for the full 2500

I think 2k would be a good price. Fix the headgasket, clean the hell out of it and throw some salad shooters on it to make it look nicer. Sell the rims on it for cheap just to ditch them.

With cleaning, and basic mechanics most Fbodies can be brought back to decent condition.

My car has been to hell and back....I wanted a project.

2k isn't bad if the head gasket is the only issue.

You never know the real damage done untill it comes apart. Could have damaged a head or even both of it was run hot. The price is a little high for a non running car as well. Here in Fl they go for around 750-1500 with blown heads. But might be more in you area.

Theres a guy my friend told me about selling a 94' Z28 with 50k miles for $1500 with a bad headgasket.. I would expect a full engine tear down and rebuild at the very least.
