Default engine wont fire... dont know the problem

I was driving one day and after giving it a little gas i come down to idle and it does a few little pops and shuts off... not actually backfiring but like a mini backfire... it sounded like somthing hitting the piston at first, but now that it has sat it does not make a sound it just wont fire... i checked the compression to see if the timing chain was broke on not and its right on... right before TDC it builds pressure and at TDC its a pressure.... so the next sstep is to check the opti timing..... not sure what the problem is but some imput would be nice..

i also checked the rockers and springs... no problems there

Check for bent pushrods, check spark, and check for fuel with the schraeder valve at the back of the intake manifold

Could be, but we wanna eliminate all other options before saying that...a coil going out while driving exhibits almost identical symptoms of an opti failure
