93 z28 limp home mode, stuck ses light
Hi, Ben here. i picked up a 93 z28 auto with a bad head gasket, ran very poorly. I towed it home and pulled the heads to find one was cracked so i decided ill just drop a rebuilt 95 iron head lt1 long block with an lt4 hot cam and 1.6 rockers in it rather then fix the old motor. the car runs really rich now and the fans kick on like its in limp home mode now. my issue is that the check engine light is on and stays on, as in wont flash or anything when pins A and B are jumpered. i ran down the leads on the dlc and they test fine as well as the lead from the pcm to the cluster. i even removed the cluster and wired in an LED in the SES spot just to prove its not the cluster. so that only leaves the PCM now right? my goal is to read codes. also the car is untuned and i sent the PCM out to be "tested" and it is supposedly fine. is there anything im forgetting or should try before i hunt down a PCM for the thing? Please and thank you.

I'm assuming that you did upgrade the springs on the iron head and hopefully put in new screw in rocker studs also. If not, you may be one of the first to prove that the stock .480 max lift springs can function with a .525 cam.
