93 LT1, want to run 4l60e what are my options?
Like the title says I swaped a 93 LT1 into my dads thirdgen Camaro and now the transmission is going out. We are trying to decide what the best option is. He does not want to do a 4l80 swap so that is out for sure. We are either going to go with a Performabuilt stage 2 700r4 or a stage 2 4l60e. I know I can buy a conversion computer for the transimission, but that is an expensive option. Is it possible to repin my 93 harness and use a 94 computer or do I have to swap to a 94 Opti, harness, Cam, MAF, and computer to run one? Will a 94 computer run a 93 opti? Thanks for your help.

Why not just use the built 700 instead of going through and changing the harness, computer and switching to mass air? The 700 is the same as the 4l60e except for computer control. Seems easier/more cost effective to stay with the 700. Just my .02 cents. Good luck

it seems you have some mis-information, 93-94 opti are the same, cams are comparable if not the same (93-94), I think the throttle bodies are different (93 has a kickdown cable IIRC) it might need to be swapped. Also make sure that the harness matches the transmission, OBD2 transmissions have a different connector.
I think all you would need is
Maf
Throttle body 94+(possibly)
transmission 94-95
harness 94-95
ecu 94-95

First off thanks for all the responses. As for the transmission the car currently has the 91 700-r4 installed in it and is being controlled by a tv cable and the lockup is being controlled by the 93 computer. I was only researching this option because another member on here is selling a built 4l60e for a great price and wondered what options we had. I am also getting concerned about getting the car tuned as it will be getting a supercharger this winter and I know Alvin at pcmforless does chip cars, but other than that I really don't know where to take it to get tuned. That is the reason for the swap questions.
I was thinking of how the opti attached to the cam as I think the 95 and up vented opti bolts on differently than the 93 style does. I also think they have a different plug on them. So I would assume that I could get a 94 harness, MAF, and computer and that may be the best route since the optis are the same.
For lt1-xjs: Yes the cable was adjusted properly. We had the transimission rebuilt and a transgo shift kit installed by a local transmission shop. I then installed the motor and trans in the car and got it running, but it was not driven. It was then loaded on a trailer and taken back to the transmission shop for them to adjust the tv cable. They took it for a drive and the car immediately smoked the 3-4 clutch pack. They pulled the trans back out and then rebuilt it again and drove it and the same result happened. They then gave us all our money back and said they did not know what was wrong with it and basically good luck.

Cams from 94 to 95 are different (the non-vented cars have the shallow cam snout while the 95+ have the snout drilled to accept the drive of the opti).
To make matters easy it would be most beneficial to find a PCM AND harness out of the same car.

I would much rather have a 60E than the 700. Every aspect of the trans can be tuned in the computer with the 60E and you get rid of the TV cable, you dont have to worry about it stretching. You would just need a 94-95 PCM and harness.
